Student's Credits, Refunds, and Financial Matters Regarding Covid-19

Coronavirus Crisis Response

Dear Students,

Recognizing the impact the COVID-19 crisis is having on our community, we are writing to share information regarding financial matters that are important to our students and their families.

Room and Board

  • For students who hold a room and board contract and have not remained on campus, Siena Heights University will grant a prorated housing and meal plan credit to your student account for the time period of Monday, March 24, 2020 through May 1, 2020.
  • Students who remain on campus during this time and continue to live in University housing will not be eligible for the credit.
  • The prorated room and board credit will be applied to any outstanding 2019-20 balances following the room and board proration.
  • Any remaining room and board credit will be distributed to eligible students as a monetary refund through the student’s BankMobile refund preference to be honored on or before June 30, 2020.

Tuition and Fees

  • There will be no financial credit provided for tuition and fees since faculty instruction and services continued in a remote basis.

Other Financial Considerations

  • For students registered in the winter semester, the University will not charge any additional late fees on unpaid balances through May 31, 2020.
  • Restrictive holds were removed for past due balances under $10,000 so students can register for fall classes.
  • Should the State or Federal governments make any new decisions regarding reimbursement to college and university students, we reserve the right to modify these adjustments.
If you have questions regarding refund policies, please email studentaccounts@sienaheights.edu.

Also, please visit the Siena Heights University Response to the Coronavirus web page for current status reports.

We would also ask for your patience and support as we work through this process together. It is the first time in the history of the University that we have attempted this type of financial adjustment on such a large scale.

Please continue to take good care of yourselves and each other.  Remember, the Siena Heights University faculty and staff are here to assist you during this time.

Thank you for your understanding and thoughtful feedback. We will continue to do our best to provide up-to-date information on the changing situation.
